West Ham’s Emerson Palmieri played for AS Roma before his move to English football with Chelsea, and there is now a possibility of him joining arch rivals Lazio in the summer.

The left-back played 31 times in the Premier League during the 2024/25 season and scored two goals, but his future could be the Italian rather than English capital.

La Repubblica, as relayed by LazioNews, report the 30-year-old is of interest to Lazio and Maurizio Sarri is a driving force behind the intrigue.

Sarri had the West Ham player under his orders during his time in charge of Chelsea, and he wants some trusted players in his squad.

Lazio also want to hand Sarri the players he needs and the belief is that this could be the summer when the full-back returns to Italy.

The newspaper believe West Ham manager Graham Potter doesn’t see Emerson as a key part of his project and would not oppose an exit. This can bring about a move away from the Hammers for the Italy international, who has now spent three seasons at the London Stadium.

There is no indication of how much West Ham would want for Emerson, and that may be where Lazio find a problem.
