Leeds United’s search for a new permanent manager is still ongoing after they sacked Jesse Marsch on Monday.
Over the past few days, the Whites have identified a few candidates and the list includes Rayo Vallecano manager Andoni Iraola.
On Wednesday, AS reported the La Liga side are calm over Leeds’ interest in their coach. Today’s edition of the same newspaper relays this and adds that the Whites insist on signing him.
The 40-year-old has been the ‘great favourite’ to become Marsch’s successor at Elland Road.
It’s claimed the Premier League side have ‘gone one step further’ to sign the Spaniard. After carrying out initial polls for him, Leeds initiated contact yesterday to try to secure Iraola’s services.
Leeds efforts won’t be successful, according to the report, because Iraola don’t intend to leave Vallecano. Despite the sirens from England, the manager doesn’t seem to be moving away from his current employer.
AS further add that Vallecano continue to ‘maintain the same calm’ they showed when they were made aware of Leeds interest in Iraola. They assume he will continue at the club.
