On Thursday, De Telegraaf journalist Marcel van der Kraan stated Ajax’s Lisandro Martínez is high on Erik ten Hag’s wish-list for Manchester United.

The defender is on vacation and is attracting interest from the Red Devils and others.

Ajax have taken it for granted they will likely part ways with the 24-year-old and will look for a deal that will benefit them, according to AS

Manchester United will join Arsenal, as these two sides will battle it out for the centre-back. The Gunners have made an offer of €45m plus €5m in add-ons.

The Eredivisie winners, for now, wait, as they have the upper hand, possibly given the Old Trafford club are in the picture. United have an ‘ace up their sleeve’ in the form of Ten Hag as the player holds the manager in high esteem.

Arteta also attracts the Argentina international, but the defender knows Ten Hag well from his time at Ajax. As it stands, Manchester United have not made a concrete offer, but are in constant contact with the Amsterdam club.

Their focus is on signing Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong. That doesn’t mean they are relaxed, especially about the South American. Ten Hag’s side are of the belief they can ‘steal’ the player from the north London club.

AS state: ‘Every day that gets longer is a day that Lisandro can get further away from Arsenal, because United’s attack is expected at any moment.’
