Newcastle United and Chelsea are both in the picture to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi this summer.
Adeyemi operated across the front three last season, scoring 12 goals and registering 11 assists from 41 games. His performances have caught the attention of Newcastle, Chelsea, Juventus and others.
Two days ago, Gazzetta dello Sport reported the Serie A club would be willing to offer €40-45m for the forward. They made no mention of the Premier League duo.
Bild relays this claim and states Newcastle and Chelsea are also showing interest in the 23-year-old. He has a contract until 2027, and the Bundesliga club are reluctant to sell him until their request is met.
According to the report, BVB have ‘set a pain threshold for Adeyemi’ of €65-70m, which feels wildly unrealistic.
Borussia Dortmund’s management, led by managing director Lars Ricken and sporting director Sebastian Kehl, would only be willing to negotiate if there’s an offer of at least €65m.
The German club have sold Jamie Gittens to Chelsea for €65m and believe Adeyemi is several steps ahead of him. Therefore, they feel it’s logical for them to request at least the same price.
Bild make no mention of whether Newcastle or Chelsea are willing to meet their request.
