Some Manchester United fans should now know one thing or two about Venezuelan star Yefferson Soteldo. Not because of his success at Santos, but actually due to his public wish of playing for the Red Devils.
The winger has said in several interviews he dreams of moving to Old Trafford, and perhaps his quotes have drawn the attention from the Premier League side.
Journalist Jorge Nicola brings a video today saying an official representing Manchester United held a meeting at Santos’ headquarters in São Paulo in February.
This emissary is said to be an official who’s strongly linked to Kia Joorabchian, the super agent who’s had several deals with Premier League sides.
Still, the Brazilian side are said to be confident that they’ll sell the player in the next transfer window.
According to Jorge Nicola, club president José Carlos Peres has guaranteed it in a meeting with the presidents of São Paulo, Palmeiras and Corinthians.
It’s said there’s an approach from an Italian club, but it’s actually a Spanish side who seem to be more interested, having already enquired about further information, such as payment methods.
There’s a big disbelief that Santos could sell Soteldo for €25m given the current financial crisis in the transfer market, so it’s more likely he’d go for less.
Given the club’s need of money, perhaps Manchester United should try by making a lower bid.
