Following a few months of silence, the Brazilian press brings some updates on the situation of Chelsea loanee Nathan today.

Loaned by the Blues to Atlético Mineiro until the end of June, the player could end up staying at the Belo Horizonte club on an extended spell or a permanent deal.

This wish has been claimed by them a few times, and now club director Alexandre Mattos has talked about it in an interview with Radio Massa.

The official reiterated their wish of keeping the 24-year-old, but said Chelsea are still to make any clear plans about his future.

“Regarding Nathan, we’ve been trying to get in touch with Chelsea, who are the owners. We’re going to try to extend until at least the end of the year,” said Alexandre Mattos (via Super Esportes).

“We have a hard time because Chelsea don’t know what to do, so things are fearful.”

Nathan was loaned by Chelsea to Atlético Mineiro in the summer of 2018, and has already had his deal extended twice.

Even though websites like Transfermarkt say his contract with the Blues expires in 2020, he signed a one-year extension with the London side before agreeing his latest loan deal with Atletico Mineiro.
