On Thursday, Alfredo Pedullà stated Manchester United intend to table an offer for Rasmus Højlund, days after the Atalanta star hinted he would welcome a move to Old Trafford.
The Denmark international is with his national team, preparing for the European qualifiers against Northern Ireland and Slovenia this month.
Ekstra Bladet state Manchester United will ‘again’ have their scouts in attendance, this time at Parken today, to ‘take a closer look’ at the striker in action against Northern Ireland.
He’s scored five goals in his last two matches for the national team and will be hoping to impress the Red Devils scout later today.
The newspaper points out claims made elsewhere about Erik ten Hag’s side ending their Harry Kane pursuit, and add the situation with him could make it easier for Højlund to join Manchester United.
“I would imagine that a lot could happen in the form of a striker domino this summer. There are a lot of clubs missing a No.9, so there’s definitely going to be something going on in the form of that domino. Then we’ll see if I am involved,” he said, relayed by Ekstra Bladet.
The striker joined Atalanta last summer and believes the Italian side are an intermediate step, before joining a top club.
“If we’re going to take it, you can’t find a much better intermediate step than Atalanta,” Højlund explained.
“I’m determined and I’m aiming for the best, and if the best thing for me is a change of club this summer, it’ll end with that.”
Meanwhile, Italian outlet Il Giorno talks about Højlund when explaining Atalanta’s summer transfer plans.
With Manchester United keeping tabs on the player, it’s claimed his ‘situation must be defined’ to have clarity over his future.
