West Ham United are one of the clubs looking at AS Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana, according to a report from France.
Operating in the middle of the pitch and as a defensive midfielder, he managed two goals and two assists from 47 games last season. Although it was a disappointing season for the Ligue 1 side, the player has attracted interest from several clubs.
That’s at least what RMC Sport are reporting and they add that West Ham, Inter Milan and AS Roma are showing interest in the 24-year-old.
Monaco, after finishing in the sixth spot, haven’t qualified for the European competition next season. As it stands, there’s been no communication from them on what fee they expect for Fofana.
The Frenchman’s deal lasts until 2024, with an option to extend for a year. RMC Sport say the Ligue 1 side expect ‘at least €35m’ to sanction his sale in this window.
Among West Ham and the two Serie A sides, the former have an advantage as the report states he ‘enjoys the Premier League’. Fofana must wait and see if the Hammers will make an offer for him in the summer.
