Two days ago, Atalanta star Rasmus Højlund publicly made clear he would be open to joining Manchester United, a club he supports.
Reports in the UK have stated Erik ten Hag wants to bring in a striker this summer and the 20-year-old is included in the list of targets.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà backs it up and provides more updates on Manchester United’s pursuit of Højlund.
The striker has confirmed he’s changed agents and the report says this is because he wants a transfer in this window.
It’s stated the ‘first clues lead to Manchester United’, who ‘intend to present’ a ‘first offer’ of €60m plus bonuses to the Serie A side.
There’s been no contact between the two clubs so far but intermediaries are ‘already at work’ to try to bring the Denmark international to Old Trafford.
Atalanta, who are ‘waiting’, would need at least €70m plus bonuses for Højlund. Pedullà says this track needs to be followed carefully, suggesting there could be movements in the coming days or weeks.
Højlund’s compatriot and Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen was asked if he’s recommended the Atalanta player to Ten Hag and the Red Devils.
“I can see Rasmus at Manchester United, but I haven’t recommended him to manager Erik ten Hag,” Eriksen said, as quoted by Ekstra Bladet.
“I just had to see him first here in the national team camp. Rasmus is a fantastic guy and a good player. He has really developed brilliantly at Atalanta. But what the club ends up doing, I will not be able to answer.”
