Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembélé has been on Manchester United’s transfer agenda over the past few years. The Red Devils came close to taking the winger towards the end of the summer 2020 window, but a deal never took shape.
United bolstered their attack last summer by signing Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo, but that has not stopped them from being named as one of the main suitors for the Frenchman.
His contract at the Camp Nou lasts until the end of the season and the 24-year-old has so far refused to accept the renewal proposal made by the La Liga side. Without a renewal, the Blaugrana informed the player that they will look to cash in from his sale this month.
This is according to Cadena Ser, who add the wideman will not leave the club in the winter market, despite that they state: ‘Dembélé’s renewal with Barça is frozen, with practically no options to redirect.’
It’s claimed the former Borussia Dortmund man will either renew his contract or ‘will leave in June for free to the Premier League’. No clubs are mentioned in the report.
Claims made by Cadena Ser are relayed by today’s Mundo Deportivo and they state the Old Trafford side are one of the clubs to have the France international on their agenda.
Meanwhile, Fichajes.net claim Manchester United are one of the clubs to ‘have shown the most interest in recent years’ in Dembélé. The club can retain the hope of signing their long-term target next summer, if the attacker decides not to renew his contract at Barcelona.
