This week’s edition of SportBild reported Manchester United should have their sights set on Leon Goretzka as a successor to Paul Pogba.

Like Pogba, the Bayern Munich player also has a year left on his contract and has so far not signed an extension.

Sport1 journalist Florian Plettenberg took to Twitter to backup claims made by SportBild and then provided own information on this case.

He claims the Red Devils are interested in the 26-year-old and they have called the midfielder’s management (or agents) in the last few days.

The Germany international loves the Bavarian club and although he ‘listens to offers’, his preference is to continue with the Bundesliga winners.

Plettenberg then provided additional information in another tweet.

He claims that during the phone call between leaders of the Old Trafford and the former Schalke man’s camp, United informed Goretzka’s representatives they ‘want’ him to replace Pogba.

The France international ‘will probably leave’ the Premier League side and if that happens, Goretzka could take his place in the squad.

United, however, are not the only club looking at the Bayern player as there are also unknown English clubs who have joined the Red Devils, Real Madrid and Barca in the chase for Goretzka.
