Manchester United may have found a great defensive duo with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez. But with both of them currently injured, it’s clear the Red Devils may need another quality addition.
It turns out that Erik ten Hag’s side are already making moves for a new centre-back ahead of the summer window, according to claims from Lisbon.
Portuguese newspaper O Jogo says Manchester United recently got in touch with Miguel Pinho, who represents Sporting defender Gonçalo Inácio.
In this first contact, the Red Devils were trying to get to know the conditions for a potential transfer.
For now, Manchester United haven’t contacted Sporting, as they shall evaluate the scenario and then engage in talks for the signing.
It’s worth recalling that Miguel Pinho also represents Bruno Fernandes and worked on his arrival at Old Trafford in 2020.
O Jogo claims that the current price to take Inácio out of Sporting is €45m, which is the amount of his release clause. However, there are already talks for a new contract and a new clause.
Manchester United aren’t the only Premier League club willing to sign him, as Newcastle United also made the same move.
