As Julian Alvarez continues to look like the next big thing to come out of South America, the Italian media now brings updates on the chase made by Serie A clubs for the striker.

According to CalcioMercato.it, it’s said his agent is now in the country. Even though there are no meetings scheduled, the next few hours could see contacts from Inter Milan, Juventus and Milan.

There’s, of course, heavy competition for the 21-year-old, and Manchester United are once again named as one of the front-runners.

The outlet says both the Red Devils and Bayern Munich are ‘further ahead’ than the Italians in the race, as the Serie A clubs must show some more convincing arguments for the move.

Julian Alvarez is protected by a release clause worth €20m, and River Plate are only likely to let him go for that price.

According to recent reports, that’s the biggest difficulty from Italian clubs, as unlike Manchester United, they don’t have the resources to pay it all at once.

There had been several claims saying the striker’s agent had been in England, so it really seems he’s travelling around Europe to see the best offers for his client, with the Red Devils potentially having already had their turn.
