Manchester City will ‘send a representative’ to watch Palmeiras’ Endrick in action against Fortaleza at Allianz Parque on Wednesday, according to ESPN Brasil.
The 16-year-old has continued to impress for the Brazilian side since making his way into their first team earlier this year. He has managed eight goals and an assist from 11 matches this season.
Endrick could win the title with Palmeiras today and the clash against Fortaleza would give an opportunity for Manchester City to ‘closely observe’ him.
The Premier League winners will be joined by Real Madrid in keeping tabs on the forward. This is a part of a monitoring efforts taken by top clubs.
As it stands, the report states there is no ongoing talks between Manchester City and Palmeiras, as the latter maintain a cautious stance when it comes to dealing with their talented young star, who has a €60m release clause.
It’s said the figure mentioned in Endrick’s clause ‘doesn’t seem to discourage interested parties’ like Manchester City and Real Madrid.
Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly said to be in talks with the South American club over a deal for the teenager, but this has been dismissed by Palmeiras president, Leila Pereira.
“Whoever told you is out of the loop. No kidding, even I, the president of Palmeiras, until today I haven’t received any contact from clubs abroad to talk about Endrick,” ESPN Brasil quoted Pereira as saying.
“He is a 16-year-old boy. He can only go abroad when he is 18 years old. We treat him very calmly, he is an extremely talented boy.”
“We have a whole apparatus inside Palmeiras to take care of him. The idea is that he develops more and more his talent, but with a lot of discretion and responsibility. He will have every opportunity to show his talent, in Brazil and in the world.”
