Manchester City are among the clubs keeping tabs on Benfica star António Silva.
After coming through the ranks of the Eagles’ academy, the 18-year-old was promoted to the first team this season. Operating in the heart of the defence, he has made 11 appearances in all competitions, which includes four starts in the Champions League.
The Portugal U21 international’s explosion at Benfica has caught the attention of several clubs, including Manchester City.
That’s according to Le10 Sport, who have a report on Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in the defender. The Ligue 1 side are perfectly positioned for a potential deal, after failing to take him in the summer window.
PSG must ‘beware of the competition’ they will face to sign the Portuguese prodigy, who is the most followed player in the European market. This is when Manchester City get a mention.
Along with PSG, Pep Guardiola’s side and Real Madrid ‘are there’. His deal expires in 2027 and includes a €100m release clause.
Le10 explain that none of Silva’s suitors will pay his release clause, especially since he is yet to complete a full season at the highest level.
Silva could be in line to represent Portugal at the World Cup. The website does warn the centre-back’s ‘rating could climb up quickly’, if he were to make it Qatar and impress in the FIFA tournament.
