Two days ago, we covered claims from Spain that Barcelona are working to sign Bernardo Silva on loan with an obligation to buy. It was also stated the Manchester City star and his agent are exerting pressure on the Citizens to sanction his transfer.
Pep Guardiola has expressed his desire to retain the 28-year-old, but he doesn’t want any unhappy players at the Etihad.
A ‘confidential’ report from today’s Sport states some at the Camp Nou already see Silva as a Barca player. This has surprised Manchester City.
In addition to this, the treble winners are also surprised by the claims that the La Liga side will make an offer to sign the midfielder on a loan deal with a mandatory purchase option.
The report states Barca will not make this offer because it would be ‘immediately rejected’ by the English champions. That’s because they’d only sell him in a full transfer.
Manchester City are aware the Portugal international likes Barcelona while they also believe he’s comfortable at the club.
Silva’s deal lasts until 2025 and the report states Guardiola’s side are ‘convinced’ he’ll ‘soon renew’ his contract. If he does, it will surely end Barcelona’s hopes of signing the player.
Over at Mundo Deportivo, they state the Blaugrana have made the first offer of loan deal with a mandatory purchase option of £50m, which was rejected by Manchester City.
In fact, the Citizens have informed Barca that Silva is ‘not for sale’ but that hasn’t put off the latter as they still hope to bring the player to the Camp Nou.
