Manchester United’s pursuit to sign Patrick Dorgu became factual this week after the Premier League club sent officials for a meeting with Lecce in Milan.

Lecce president Sticchi Damiani was naturally involved in the chat, and afterwards was happy to talk to the Italian media about how things went. Damiani wanted everyone to know the talks had been very pleasant, that he was proud to have such a big club interested in a Lecce product, but that he’d like to keep Dorgu until the end of the season.

Whilst these things can never be stated as certain, it sounded a lot like Damiani wanted Manchester United to cough up some more money.

Since then there doesn’t appear to have been much progress. Well, any progress.

Calciomercato.it now bring an update and it would appear everyone is set to meet again.

On Thursday afternoon, they report Manchester United are ‘pushing for the purchase’ and want it done in January.

So what are they actually doing? Well, a fresh ‘summit’ has been scheduled and that will take place in three days. That meeting could even be brought forward.

Dorgu’s valuation is put at €35/40m and Calciomercato.it, and presumably Lecce themselves, think that’s within Manchester United’s reach.

The aim of the new meeting will be to reach a compromise which sends Dorgu to the English club.
