Julen Lopetegui has urged Wolverhampton Wanderers to tie down Adama Traoré to a new contract.
The Spain international’s contract expires in June and Napoli are among the clubs in the picture to sign him.
Sportitalia state the former Sevilla manager is ‘insisting’ on retaining the winger beyond this season. It’s further claimed Wolves have offered him a new deal that includes a salary of €3m per year plus bonuses.
Traoré has rejected it as the ‘offer is not enough’. This will come as encouragement for Napoli, who remain vigilant about the player, especially if Hirving Lozano were to be sold.
This information was reported by journalist Alfredo Pedullà, who has provided additional updates on Traoré’s situation at Wolves, on his own website.
Despite rejecting the offer, Wolves will continue to press to secure the attacker’s long-term future because Lopetegui ‘doesn’t intend to lose’ him.
Meanwhile, Traoré, is evaluating the possibility of moving elsewhere and Napoli could be an option. The contacts between the Wolves winger and the Serie A side have been going on since November, in view of a potential free transfer next summer.
