Any transfer window is incomplete without Barcelona’s (yes, they still own him) Cristian Tello being linked with a move to Liverpool, it’d feel like injustice.
The 24-year-old has been linked to the Merseyside club since the days of Kenny Dalglish (during his second term!), and now reports in Spain claim Jurgen Klopp is also interested in signing the 20-year-old.
Spanish daily Marca say Liverpool have been interested in Tello for a long time, and that Klopp is an admirer of the Spaniard. When Klopp was manager of Borussia Dortmund, the German club were linked with Tello, and so the combination meant new claims were inevitable.
The player has spent the last six months on loan at Serie A club Fiorentina, who have the option to make his move permanent, but somehow the Anfield club are dragged into it.
Marca also say Barcelona would want to sign an attacker before letting Tello leave permanently. That doesn’t make sense either, as the player has spent the past two years out on loan, with the previous season being spent at FC Porto, and you’d wonder why they need to replace him all of a sudden.
This is almost certainly a set of coincidences, given Liverpool were linked in the Dalglish and Rodgers days, and Dortmund were linked when Klopp was their manager.
