Leeds United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of NEC star Anthony Limbombe following claims NEC are lining up a replacement for the 21-year-old. The youngster has been in outstanding form in the past 12 months, which brought him to the attention of Leeds United.

Voetbal Zone have revealed NEC are already looking at the possibility of losing Limbombe when the transfer window opens, and are targeting Genk attacker Ayub Timbe.

Like Limbombe the Kenya international can play anyway across the forward line, and will be seen as a like for like replacement for the Belgian.

NEC have become resigned to losing Limbombe this summer after the attacker handed in a transfer request, and the club could now look to cash in on their prize asset.

Leeds United tried to sign Limbombe last summer, but their offer was turned down by NEC.

The Championship side have continued to monitor the situation with the NEC star, with recent claims in the Dutch media that they will fight in out with Lille to land the player this summer.

We recently spoke to Limbombe’s agent who confirmed there is a possibility he could end up in England, but he explained they still had options to play in other European leagues.
