As the Brazilian media continues to cover the rumours linking Liverpool star Roberto Firmino to São Paulo, they keep ruling out that possibility.
This time it’s UOL columnist André Hernan who features a story saying he got in touch with the Tricolor’s board, and was told they ‘never’ made any contact for that signing.
Firmino’s contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season, and that report also brings a couple of claims about that.
First regarding the Reds’ plans for the player, it’s said they’re considering a short extension, for one or two years, but it’s stated that a long-term extension ‘is not being considered’ by those in charge of matters at Anfield at this moment in time.
And even though Firmino could leave Liverpool for free at the end of the season, it’s said the player’s preference is actually ‘to continue’ at Liverpool.
Playing for the Reds this season, Firmino has nine goals and four assists in 21 appearances.
It’s actually very possible he’ll manage to have better numbers than in the previous two seasons, and that’s a reason for Jürgen Klopp to think twice before letting him leave for free.
