On Monday, a rather big claim came out of Morocco regarding Sofyan Amrabat and Liverpool’s interest in him.

The article, from Lions de L’Atlas, stated that the midfielder liked what he had heard from Jürgen Klopp, and was leaning towards moving to the Reds if they came forward.

It was reported they would do just that, with a €45m offer being readied by Liverpool to convince Fiorentina to sell their star.

Amrabat’s value has shot through the roof during and following the World Cup, which is why Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday point out that ‘at least €40-45m’ will be needed to convince the Serie A side.

That’s when Liverpool are mentioned, with it said that the ‘dangers come mainly from the Premier League’, where the Anfield side are waiting for him.

It’s pointed out that Jürgen Klopp and his team are ‘seriously thinking of strengthening themselves in the middle with the Moroccan’, which backs up what was coming out of Morocco on Monday.

Gazzetta do not mention a bid being readied, but with the January transfer window right around the corner and Liverpool seemingly in deep thought about making a move, it wouldn’t be surprising if they were currently crunching numbers behind the scenes to see what can be done.
