Jürgen Klopp has already announced his decision to leave Liverpool after this season and the Reds have already been linked to a few candidates, including Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso.

Last week, Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna reported the Spaniard is aware of the Merseyside club’s interest in him. Aouna even stated that Bayern Munich also want to appoint him as Thomas Tuchel’s successor.

Earlier today, Bayern confirmed that Tuchel will step down after this season. Santi Aouna again took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide a fresh update on Liverpool and the Bavarian club.

Alonso is still on top of the list at these two clubs, and the journalist states Liverpool have already made the first approach.

The 42-year-old had spells with both the Premier League side and Bayern during his playing career, and is now ‘keen on a move to England’.

Aouna further adds Liverpool are ‘ready to send a bid’ to the Bundesliga side in the ‘next weeks’.

Leverkusen have excelled under Alonso’s orders this season as they are unbeaten in the league so far, and are on top of the table, eight points ahead of second placed Bayern.
