Before Ibrahima Konaté was signed, Liverpool were linked with a number of players, including Torino’s Bremer.

The Brazilian centre-back has impressed for the Serie A side of late, and it was imperative for them to try and keep him at the club longer, especially since they are trying to avoid a repeat of last season when they toyed with relegation for far too long.

They’ve managed just that, it seems, as Gazzetta dello Sport report their is a ‘total agreement’ between Torino and the player, but there were moments where they felt they might lose him.

The Reds have something to do with that, because the Italian newspaper also point out Bremer ‘received courtship from Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool in recent weeks’, but their enquiries were ‘promptly rejected’.

Ivan Juric, their new manager, seemingly wanted the key defender to stay as much as anyone, and there is a belief that the three seasons the player has spent at the club are but ‘an appetiser of an adventure’.

The 24-year-old still has room to grow, which is probably what Jürgen Klopp and co. saw as well, but it appears he will be doing that in Italy for the foreseeable future, and not at Anfield in the Liverpool red.
