Last week, French outlet L’Equipe reawakened the rumours linking Paris Saint Germain star Kylian Mbappé to Liverpool.
It was claimed the Reds ‘don’t give up’ on the race for him, despite the huge competition there is for his signing.
Some news on the forward’s future now comes from Spain, where Cadena Ser, relayed by Sport, brings exciting updates for the Reds.
It’s claimed that Real Madrid, who had always been named as the front runners for Mbappé’s signing, are now set to give up on him, as president Florentino Perez has no intention of landing the centre-forward and ‘ruled out’ his arrival.
So the ‘big alternative’ for the French player is the Premier League, where Liverpool are the ‘best positioned’ to sign him.
It’s recalled that the Reds had even made offers for him in the past, and could now make their pursuit a ‘reality’ with the lack of competition from Real Madrid.
However, for that to happen, they would need to sell Mohamed Salah, who was a target for Al-Ittihad in the summer.
The problem there, according to Sport, is that if José Mourinho takes over at the Saudi Arabian club after Nuno Espírito Santo was fired, then that could scupper any move for the Egyptian, as the two have never really managed to get along.
