Liverpool loanee booed by fans again, newspaper sure of it this time

Liverpool loanee Lazar Markovic was once again booed by the Sporting fans. This time, it seems it was for real.

Something similar happened last month, also on a Champions League night, against Legia Warsaw. The player had the chance to pass the ball to Bas Dost, who was in a good position to score, but he decided to keep it and ended up losing possession.

A loud boo came from the stands and Record said it was directed to Markovic. However, the paper released a statement apologizing the next day, claiming they didn’t know if the fans’ reaction was to Markovic or to the referee, who hadn’t signalled a foul.

But this Wednesday, O Jogo seems to be sure of what they are talking about. After a disappointing performance, Markovic was subbed for Arsenal loanee Joel Campbell, and when the Serbian was leaving the pitch, clear whistles could be heard from the crowd.
