Liverpool have been added to the list of clubs eyeing a move for Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku in the summer window.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, and their title says ‘Liverpool enter the race’ for the 27-year-old.
He left RB Leipzig for Chelsea in June 2023 and struggled with multiple injuries in his first season.
The forward’s situation has improved this season, with over 2,000 minutes from 40 games, scoring 14 goals and registering five assists in the process. Enzo Maresca has started him in the UEFA Conference League and the cup competitions.
Nkunku had to settle for a limited role in the Premier League as he made nine starts this season. He’s not pleased with the role at Chelsea and could leave them in the upcoming window. The report says the attacker could be living his ‘final weeks’ with the Blues.
Despite his situation at Chelsea, the France international still attracts interest from top clubs, including Liverpool.
The Reds are looking to improve their attack with a versatile player and have the Chelsea player on their list. He can operate up front, left wing and behind the striker.
Liverpool have started talks with the player looking for a transfer. The report further adds Newcastle United and Bayern Munich are also showing interest in Nkunku. The Bundesliga winners could consider him if Leroy Sané were to move elsewhere.
