Super Deporte is the local sports newspaper for the Valencia region, and their Tuesday front page was goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili with the word RESPECT shouting out as the major headline.
This wasn’t a demand for the player to forget Liverpool and show respect to the Spanish club, but rather an acknowledgement that he was already doing that, well the respect part of it anyway.
Despite a desire to sign for Liverpool and eventually be Alisson Becker’s successor, the Georgian was showing no signs of trying to force the move.
Deportes Cope Valencia now report Liverpool ‘accelerate’ negotiations to try a secure a deal. They are said to be ‘close’ to the fixed amount demand, which has routinely been put at €40m, but there’s some ‘crucial details’ missing.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth are ‘rushing’ to make sure they’re still involved in the transfer, and would take Mamardashvili for a season or two.
Onda Cero report the stopper isn’t interested in going to Bournemouth, because he doesn’t want to pack up and start again at a club where he’s only there temporarily by design.
Instead, he’d prefer to remain at Valencia on loan.
Meanwhile, Super Deporte – Valencia’s regional sport newspaper – go with this front page on Monday.
