Following Manchester United’s 3-0 win over West Ham United at the weekend, Red Devils’ fullback Diogo Dalot had a word with the Portuguese media about the club’s form.
Speaking to DAZN, in quotes relayed by Noticias Ao Minuto, the 24-year-old started by acknowledging that the Red Devils hadn’t been showing their best this season.
“The month of January could’ve been better, and the first half of the season was a little below our expectations. Individually, it’s been good, but the team is the most important thing, so when you don’t win, it doesn’t matter if you play well or not,” said Dalot.
Dalot then claimed that Manchester United are now on the right track, as they try to deal with the big pressure they’re put in.
“Fortunately the results are starting to come in and let’s hope it continues until the end of the season.”
“In our case, we’re used to being at a club where the pressure and demands are very high, every time we play there are millions of people watching and so there are going to be a lot of opinions about us. Our job is to try and keep that out of it.”
Manchester United now come from three straight wins, as they beat Newport County in the FA Cup, and then won their matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham in the Premier League.
That has led the Red Devils to the 6th place in the table, besides the place in the cup’s fifth round against either Bristol City or Nottingham Forest.
That’s undoubtedly some fresh air for Erik ten Hag and their squad, who had a tough time in the past few months. Even though Manchester United didn’t make any signings in January, the comeback of injured players certainly helped them.
