It’s no secret Southampton are trying to strike a deal for Lille’s Sofiane Boufal. The Ligue 1 club want around €20m for the Moroccan star, whilst L’Equipe reported yesterday Southampton have made a €14m offer.
According to the French newspaper on Friday, Leicester City have also entered the race to sign Boufal, but Southampton are very close to completing a deal.
L’Equipe say Southamtpon will pay €20m for Boufal, but the Premier League side and Lille were still discussing the sell-on clause, and bonuses worth €1m.
Southampton have apparently offered the player wages worth €2.8m/season, and will be hoping to quickly wrap up the deal now.
Boufal has also been linked to Watford, but it seems they’ve given up on the deal, and there is no mention of Walter Mazzarri’s team in L’Equipe’s latest report.
English reports had stated Southampton had bid more, but it’s been Lille’s intention to get €20m for a while. They had hoped for more at the end of last season but the player undergoing surgery saw a few clubs back away.
