Kasper Schmeichel returned for Leicester City against FC Porto in the Champions League, and then made his domestic return against Southampton, keeping a clean-sheet in both games, which isn’t the worst way to return from injury.
Denmark’s TV2 quote the Leicester City star as saying: “For the first time in a long time I am pain free when I play. It’s a really nice feeling and it’s a feeling you might take a little bit for granted, so I’m glad to be back.”
The Danish national team are at the beginning of a new era after manager Morten Olsen, who had been in charge for 15 years, handed over to Åge Hareide.
The country’s next match is away to Poland and Schmeichel is aware it won’t be easy: “It’s a very good team we are up against. It will be a very difficult game and it will probably be a cauldron… It will be a great atmosphere to play in, and we are really looking forward to it.”
A fully match fit Kasper Schmeichel is a big boost for both Demark and Leicester, and both his managers will be hoping it stays that way.
