Leeds United will not raise their offer for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie to the €35m the Italian side want ‘any time soon’.
That’s according to Sky Sport’s journalist Luca Cilli, relayed by Juventus News 24, who say Leeds are sticking to the €28m offer they have presented for the American, which seems a very fair fee for Juve.
McKennie has been linked with a move to the Premier League over the last week, with Juventus seemingly happy to move him on before the end of the window.
Leeds have been named among his suitors, with reports in Italy making it clear that talks with Juventus are already underway about a deal.
Those same reports have stated the McKennie has already agreed to make the move to Elland Road, having discussed it with compatriots Jesse Marsch and Tyler Adams, who are already at Leeds of course.
Cilli picks up on that and states that Leeds have made a €28m offer for the player but that is not enough to satisfy Juventus, who want €35m.
That’s a problem because Leeds have made it clear they won’t raise their bid ‘any time soon’, so the two parties are now negotiating where they go next.
According to their information, Leeds are ‘convinced’ they do not have much competition and already have McKennie’s approval so therefore do not need to push harder to get him.
They’ve therefore made their stance clear, and the American midfielder will be remaining at Juventus for the time being.
That does not mean a deal is off the table and if there is a ‘turnaround’ in the coming days then he could be left out of the squad for the clash with Monza on Sunday.
