Leeds United have included AZ Alkmaar youngster Kasper Boogaard in their target list for the summer window.
That’s at least what Voetbal Zone are reporting, and they report on Leeds’ interest, and the 19-year-old’s stance on potential transfer.
The defensive midfielder climbed through the ranks of the Dutch club’s youth teams and is yet to make his debut for the senior team.
Boogaard has represented AZ Alkmaar U21s in domestic competition and U19s in the UEFA Youth League regularly this year. His performances helped him receive his first call up for the Netherlands U19 during March’s international break.
The teenager has just over two months left on his contract and has attracted interest from clubs in the Netherlands, Germany and England.
Leeds and Hamburger SV are the only clubs mentioned and have set their sights on him. The report adds Boogaard has ‘no reason to complain’ about interest shown by these clubs.
The Eredivisie side are looking to tie him down to a new deal. The parties are in talks for his renewal as Boogaard’s preference is to continue at AZ Alkmaar. If there’s no renewal, the Whites can sign him for free in the summer window.
Leeds can now use the Premier League to tempt Boogaard.
