During the summer, Leeds United showed interest in AZ Alkmaar’s Troy Parrott.
De Telegraaf earlier reported on the Whites’ desire to sign him, but they refused to meet AZ’s €30m demand.
Fast forward to November and Voetbal Nieuws relays this claim and provide the latest on Leeds United.
The Premier League side are back in the mix to sign the 23-year-old after summer failure. It’s claimed their ‘interest is serious’ and ‘discussions have begun’ for a potential deal.
AZ paid €4m to buy the Republic of Ireland international from Tottenham Hotspur in July 2024. He managed 20 goals and five assists from 47 matches last season and has 13 goals and two assists this season.
The frontman has a contract until 2029, but Mexx Meerdink’s emergence makes an exit possible.
Leeds United will be asked to give AZ their record sale

AZ’s aim is for Parrott to become their new club-record sale. The current record is €25m, collected from Tijjani Reijnders’s move to AC Milan in 2023.
Parrott’s valuation has increased further after five goals from two matches for his country this month. He netted a late goal to complete his hat-trick in the 3-2 win over Hungary and this helped his national team secure a berth in the playoffs.
Taking his performances for club and country into account, Voetbal Nieuws report AZ are demanding more than they requested last summer. There’s no mention of a figure but it’s higher than €30m.
Leeds United refused to pay this fee last summer and Parrott’s signing has only become more expensive now.
