Werder Bremen are closing in on a deal for Leeds United defender Maximilian Wöber, who will sign a four-year deal at the German club.

That’s according to BILD, who report that the Bundesliga side are close to a deal for the 27-year-old this summer.

According to their information, talks between Werder Bremen and Leeds are at an advanced stage and if they go as expected, Wöber will make the move imminently. The deal is expected to cost ‘in the low millions’ despite Wöber costing Leeds €12m in 2023.

His injury problems over the last year have helped to reduce his valuation considerably and that’s led Bremen to doing a low-cost deal for him.

Journalists Phillipp Hinze and Florian Plettenberg back up the report, both stating that a deal is in the final stages.

Hinze reports that it is nearing completion and that Leeds and Werder expect to finalise it in the coming days. Wöber will sign a four-year deal with the German side but a medical and various paperwork is still pending.

Plettenberg, meanwhile, calls it s a done deal and says there is a full agreement in place with Leeds United. He expects it to be finalised in the next 2-3 days and also says it will be in the low single-digit range.
