Leeds United and Ipswich Town are chasing FC St. Gallen star Willem Geubbels ahead of the summer window.
That’s according to Berliner Kurier, who name Leeds United and Ipswich Town when providing the latest on Union Berlin’s pursuit of the striker.
He’s starred for St. Gallen this season, scoring 16 goals and registering three assists from 40 games.
Leeds have had their eyes on the 23-year-old for several months. Back in January, we covered claims from Switzerland that the Whites wanted to sign him on loan in the winter market.
Berliner Kurier claims the Bundesliga club also showed interest in the player in January, and his club refused to sanction a move.
They relay claims from Kicker that Union Berlin are now making a new attempt to sign the Frenchman with an offer of around €6-7m. The German club have to be wary of Leeds and Ipswich Town because these two clubs are also bidding for Geubbels.
There’s no mention of the fee Daniel Farke’s side or Ipswich Town are planning to offer.
Last week, Geubbels admitted he’s open to listening to offers in the upcoming window.
“My contract runs until 2027. Let’s see what happens. Offers? At the moment, I don’t know exactly what I’m really interested in. If there are any offers, we’ll discuss them,” he said.
Leeds have secured promotion to the Premier League while Ipswich Town were relegated to the second division. This may give the Whites an advantage over the English club to try and sign the frontman.
