On March 3rd, we relayed news from Spain that Leeds United are ‘very aware’ of Ilias Akhomach’s situation at Barcelona.
It was also explained Victor Orta was leading the Whites’ pursuit of the 18-year-old. He made his senior debut in Xavi Hernández’s first game in charge of the La Liga side in November 2021 and finished last season with three appearances.
The winger hasn’t featured for the Catalan club this season and has a deal expiring in June. Leeds are aware of the developments around his future and are working to bring him to the club in the summer.
Barca aren’t giving up and have already made a renewal offer. That’s according to Sport, who state the proposal is ‘well below’ what he has received from elsewhere, especially from England and Italy.
It’s claimed Javi Gracia’s side are ‘at the forefront’, and are ‘trying to seduce’ Akhomach to join them for free. The Spain U19 international sees Leeds as a springboard to joining a big club in the future.
If Akhomach leaves Barca, they would receive compensation due to FIFA’s solidarity mechanism, and also a percentage from his future sale.
