Carlos Carvalhal has been included in Leeds United’s managerial target list, according to iG Esporte.
At the weekend, Celta Vigo confirmed they have reached an agreement with the 57-year-old to “end their contractual relationship”.
The report states that in ‘recent days’, the Portuguese has been courted by several European clubs for next season, including Leeds.
It’s claimed the Whites have shown interest in Carvalhal and have ‘already opened talks’ to try to bring him to Elland Road. The coach has the experience of managing in the UK from his time at Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City between 2015 and 2018.
The outlet doesn’t mention if Carvalhal is open to taking the vacant job at Elland Road next season. He’s ‘free in the market’ and the latest rumours have also talked about Atlético-MG wanting to appoint him as Eduardo Coudet’s successor.
Leeds are yet to appoint a new manager after Sam Allardyce left the club following their relegation from the Premier League. It remains to be seen who will become Allardyce’s successor at Elland Road next season.
