Juventus have made a late move to sign Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri, after Torino pursued him for several weeks.
The Premier League side have signed James Trafford from Manchester City this summer. Perri had decided to leave even before his arrival and Torino have been working on signing him.
Confusion over Torino move
Torino had made advances before Marseille entered the race. This certainly pleased Leeds United, forcing the Serie A side to revise their offer.
Despite the Ligue 1 side’s attempt, the stopper wants to keep his word and join the Turin club.
Four days ago, we relayed news Torino are offering €1m in loan fee with a €14m purchase option. The Whites accepted this and the expectation was for him to travel for medical.
On Friday, Sport Witness we explained that Ignazio Abate’s side have had second thoughts. Perri’s agent made a trip to Italy and is still there to unblock the operation.

Torino, who haven’t completely ruled out signing the Brazilian, have to be wary of their local rivals.
Saturday’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport explains Juventus have entered the race to sign Lucas Perri.
In the ‘last few hours’, the Old Lady have made an approach, and it’s unclear whether the contact was with Daniel Farke’s side, his agent or both. It could be with the agent who is in Turin.
Juventus recently signed Guglielmo Vicario on loan with an option to buy from Tottenham Hotspur.
Michele Di Gregorio is on the verge of leaving the Serie A side and Mattia Perin is in talks with Palermo. This has seen Luciano Spalletti’s side look for a backup for Vicario and the focus is on Perri.
Gazzetta states: ‘A real revolution is looming. The Bianconeri are looking for a reliable option, preferably on loan, and have begun their investigations into Perri, the Brazilian goalkeeper leaving Leeds and attracted by Serie A.’
The Brazilian has already given his word to Torino. Therefore, Juventus have to convince him and the Premier League side to stand a chance of signing him.
