Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano has played down rumours linking Nico Gonzalez with a move to Leicester City.
Leicester have been linked with a move for Gonzalez since last year and a report at the end of November insisted that there was a negotiation between themselves and Fiorentina over a possible deal.
That stated that the Foxes had made a ‘super offer’ for the player, which was set to be evaluated by Fiorentina, who might end up asking for more.
That offer comes as Brendan Rodgers is keen to add to his squad this month, with a winger thought to be among the positions he would like to add in.
Gonzalez would fit the bill and the initial bid reported today could be the start of their pursuit of him in this window.
It seems, though, Fiorentina are yet to receive anything formal, at least as far as manager Vincenzo Italiano is concerned.
“There is value in this Fiorentina, but I think they are just rumours,” Tuttomercatoweb report him saying about the alleged interest from Leicester.
“Today I saw Nico with a great desire to return to condition, he’s pushing hard in training. I’ve never opened up other discussions, the only intention is to have the Gonzalez of last year back.”
