Liverpool are interested in signing Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne, according to an exclusive on Italian website Calcio Mercato News.

It is reported Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has a real affinity towards Italian players as he also signed Ciro Immobile at Borussia Dortmund. That seems like quite a leap to us, especially considering Immobile was an absolute disaster.

Liverpool reportedly haven’t made any contacts with Napoli yet. Calcio Mercato News say Klopp is taking time to ‘assess the role of Insigne on the chessboard of Liverpool’.

The 25-year-old has another three years left on his contract, but it is reported he isn’t happy with his progress on the pitch.

Frankly, it’s very difficult to understand Liverpool’s interest in Insigne. Klopp has raised the issue of having too many forwards at the club recently in the media, and it wouldn’t make sense.

Calcio Mercato News are not particularly reliable, and we should wait for more concrete news.
