Earlier this week, it was reported that Chelsea had sent representatives to Brazil to try to sign Thiago Maia from Santos.
The Iranian agent Kia Joorabchian would try to convince the player to join the Blues, and in case he had a positive answer, then the official would deliver an official bid to the Brazilian club.
The story, written by Jorge Nícola, said the midfielder doesn’t have a personal agent at the moment. He stopped working with the Juan Figer group last year, so his mother and his uncle should take care of these conversations with Chelsea.
Now ESPN has some very interesting news this Wednesday. They claim that Joorabchian, alongside his partnet Giuliano Bertolucci, are actually trying to agree a deal to represent Thiago Maia from now on.
The information was confirmed by Vanderi, the player’s uncle: “I confirm we are talking to their office, there’s nothing agreed. We’ll decide if we sign with them after the Olympics.”
That would be good news for Chelsea, since Joorabchian is known for having a good relationship with the club, having taken part in the transfers of Oscar, Ramires, Willian, Pato and David Luiz.
Once the deal is signed, ESPN says the agents have two offers for Santos. One from Chelsea and one from PSG. Both clubs would be ready to offer around €20m for the 19-year-old.
Thiago has a €50m release clause in a contract which runs until 2019. Although he has a huge importance for Santos, we reckon that it shouldn’t cost much more than what they’re intending to offer to take the player from the Brazilian club.
