Pervis Estupiñán is one of the Brighton & Hove Albion stars who joined the Ecuadorian national team ahead of their upcoming friendlies.
The fullback is set to take part in the couple of matches they will play against Australia, on the 24th and 28th of March.
Currently at the national team camp, the 25-year-old had an interview with ESPN (via Directv Sports) and talked about his current form at Brighton.
First speaking about his arrival at the Seagulls, following a €17.8m move from Villarreal last summer, he claims the South Americans helped him in his adaptation.
“It helps a lot to have formed a good group with the other South Americans. Since I arrived, they received me well and that has helped us a lot to get things done on the pitch,” said Estupiñán.
The fullback was also quizzed about his teammate Moises Caicedo, who besides becoming a star at Brighton, has brought that importance to the national team as well.
“He’s showing a great level and now that I’m here, I’ve got to know him better. I’ve seen his football improve. He’s an exceptional footballer, with some spectacular characteristics at the same time how old he is. He has to continue like this and he will be a great player.”
Estupiñán was also asked about Brighton’s goals this season, and said he’s dreaming of a good position in the Premier League.
“Since we have added points and climbed the ranks, our goal is to continue climbing and finish the season in European positions. Hopefully we can achieve it.”
Brighton currently stand in 7th place, with one game less than Liverpool and Newcastle United, who stand over them. The Seagulls get back in action on the 1st of April, when they face Brentford.
