Kamaldeen Sulemana was on the scoresheet for Southampton against Swansea City in the FA Cup at the weekend.

Playing as a centre-forward, he also got an assist and helped the Saints to a 3-0 win. This was the first time Sulemana has started two games in a row for the club this season.

Despite the Ghana international being more involved in the Southampton first-team under Ivan Juric, his future has been called into question.

Links with Genoa have emerged in recent days and after their 1-0 win over Parma, the Italian side’s sporting director Marco Ottolini was asked about the club’s interest in Sulemana.

Ottolini said, as relayed by Gianluca di Marzio: “It’s difficult to make percentages. However, he is a name in line with the type of player we are looking for, I think it is complicated for various factors.”

In the same report, Di Marzio adds that despite a move for the 22-year-old being complicated, it is a situation worth keeping an eye on for the next few days.

Corriere dello Sport today have also reported that Genoa are keen but are facing competition from other clubs in the chase.

This suggests that there a chance of approaches for Sulemana before the end of January. His contributions against Swansea show that he can still be a valuable member of the side and that losing him could be a blow.
