Manchester United allowed Chris Smalling to join AS Roma on a season-long loan deal and he’s been one of the key players in the Italian side’s defence this season.
Even though the 29-year-old has made just eight appearances for the Giallorossi, they already want to make his temporary deal permanent, which has been reported several times by the Italian press over the past week or so.
Over the weekend, Gazzetta dello Sport explained the Red Devils have set a base price of €20m to part ways with the former Fulham man. The newspaper also explained the centre-back is enjoying life in Italy, both on and off the pitch.
Tiziano Pasquali was the intermediary who helped the United owned player arrive on a dry loan deal.
He gave an interview to Tele Radio Stereo to provide an update about Smalling’s chances of joining Roma on a permanent move, and it’s been relayed by Romanews.eu.
When asked if he can give more details, the intermediary responded: “It’s all real, there is a willingness on both sides to move forward in the negotiations.”
“The only thing I say is to keep the director [Gianluca] Petrachi working. I can give you news that all the parties want to complete the operation.
“There is also the desire of Chris to continue. He is well placed in Rome and he found a beautiful dressing room.”
