This may be news that is music to the ears of Aston Villa supporters.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the mega-deal which would take Douglas Luiz to Juventus is being ‘blocked’.
The Turin club were set to take the Brazilian and send Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior to Aston Villa, along with a settlement of around €20m.
For a while it’s been made clear that Luiz wants the move and so his agreement with Juventus isn’t thought to be an issue.
However, last week there was a claim in Italy that McKennie was having some disagreements over a pay-off of some sort from the Serie A club.
Di Marzio now reports there’s another issue, and it looks bigger.
The Italian journalist says the US international and Aston Villa have failed to come to an agreement on personal terms or commissions payable in the deal.
That’s why the whole move is currently blocked. It’s not dead, with the parties involved working to resolve things, but as of now it’s certainly wobbling.
