Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers hasn’t relied upon Luis Palma regularly this season and the winger has been limited to 183 minutes of action from seven games.
Palma’s situation at Celtic didn’t stop Honduras manager Reinaldo Rueda from including him in the squad for the ongoing international break.
On Tuesday, the Celtic player arrived in his country and was met by local reporters. His comments are relayed by Diez.
Palma returns to the national team squad after missing out on last month’s matches, and is “very happy” to do so. Amid his struggles at Celtic, the 24-year-old has insisted he’s physically in good shape.
“I’m doing well, I’ve trained well, unfortunately I haven’t had minutes in the team, but physically I’m doing well,” he said.
The attacker has opened up about the recent loss of his grandmother, which has ‘hit him hard’.
“I had the support of my wife and my family because it was a complicated issue, but I’m trying to move forward and working, thinking that she is up there supporting me,” Palma explained.
The Celtic man’s immediate focus is on the national team’s two matches against Mexico in the Concacaf Nations League.
The last time these two countries met was in the quarter-final of the Concacaf Nations League Finals in November 2023. Mexico won on penalties, after the two-legged tie ended in a 2-2 draw.
When Palma was asked if it’s a rematch against El Tri, he said: “In football there is always revenge, but it’s up to us to do our part and follow the coach’s instructions and what he wants for this game.”
