Leeds United saw several of their players go out on loan in the last window and that includes Rasmus Kristensen, who joined AS Roma.
The Denmark international has made seven Serie A appearances this season and is now with the national team camp for the international break.
Speaking to the local media, the Leeds man has revealed that José Mourinho was one the reasons why he joined the Italian club, and his comments are relayed by TV2 Sport.
“He’s a fantastic coach. That’s one reason why I chose to go to Rome. He’s one of the greatest coaches in history who has won everything there is to win. And he has that aura too,” he said.
“For me, he’s a coach who is at the very top. So, of course, I wanted to try to work with him. So far, it has been totally cool and educational.”
The Financial Fair Play regulations meant Roma were forced to leave two of their summer signings out of the Europa League squad, and Mourinho and his side decided not to include the 26-year-old.
The Whites right-back has conceded that he had no choice but to accept the Italian club’s stance to leave him out.
“Of course, I was worn out by that. But I understood the rules of financial fair play. I wasn’t surprised that it was a right back they chose. It would have been more controversial to leave out Lukaku,” Kristensen explained.
“He [Roma director] explained to me that he was sorry, and he understood well if I was angry and disappointed. But that was the way it had to be. There’s not much I can do about it.
“Fortunately, I have played in Serie A matches that have taken place. In that way it has been okay, but of course it is annoying.”
TV2 Sport state the Leeds owned player is scheduled to return to the Championship side after his loan spell with the Giallorossi.
Leeds signed the Dane from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022 and he finished his debut season at Elland Road with 30 appearances, managing three goals and an assist in the process.
