Oliver Glasner appears to be safe at Crystal Palace for now, as owner Steve Parish is yet to show any signs hinting, he could sack the Austrian coach.

That’s according to journalist Peter Linden, who reports that Parish is yet to really question Glasner despite Crystal Palace’s poor start to the season.

Monday’s 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest made it five defeats already for Crystal Palace this season and no wins. They currently sit 18th in the table, albeit only a point behind Ipswich Town in 17th, who are also winless.

It’s been a chastening start to the season for the Eagles, who finished last season on a high under Glasner and had hoped to kick on this year.

Instead, they find themselves struggling, with the sales of Joachim Andersen and Michael Olise hitting the team hard and the free flowing, attacking football of last season a distant memory.

The English media, who Linden labels the “yellow press” already have the Austrian among the favourites to be sacked but the journalist insists this is not the case.

According to him, Steve Parish is yet to have said anything, or given any signals behind the scenes ‘that would have questioned Glasner’.

Furthermore, it’s insisted that he ‘certainly remembers’ that Glasner took charge at the end of February when Crystal Palace were 15th and in danger of relegation and took them to 10th with seven wins and three draws in 13 games.

That’s given him credit in the bank, and it’s insisted Glasner can’t have lost those qualities and become a worse coach.

There still appears to be belief that Crystal Palace can turn it around and, in Austria at least, they believe Glasner may still be safe for now.
