Arsenal are not in concrete negotiations for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, despite talks for Viktor Gyökeres stalling.
That’s according to BILD, who report that Leipzig may end up waiting for the €70m they’re looking for from selling Sesko this summer.
The newspaper states that while everyone at Leipzig is convinced Sesko will be sold at some point, a move is currently not on the cards. In fact, the matter could progress well into the summer.
While Arsenal and several other clubs are interest, no club has agreed on a transfer fee for the striker. Arsenal, like the other suitors in Europe, haven’t entered concrete negotiations for the 22-year-old either.
In fact, Leipzig’s bosses haven’t negotiated with anyone, particularly Arsenal. They’ve been linked the most over the last few weeks. That’s despite efforts for Gyökeres having fallen by the wayside.
The feeling in Germany, or at least suggested by BILD, is that until that situation is resolved there will be no clear direction with Sesko. He’s very much seen as the alternative to Gyökeres for Arsenal.
Until it’s clear he can’t be signed, at least for the €65-70m price they want to spend, then official talks won’t be opened for Sesko either. He is definitely available for €70m.
That means any reports about Arsenal and Sesko can be treated with a big pinch of salt for the time being, at least until the Gyökeres situation resolves itself either way.
